Hello! I am Jennfer Molinari. I am a licensed and board-certified psychotherapist (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) and a National Certified Counselor in the State of Maryland. I am also a Certified Hypnotherapist, and a Certified HypnoBirthing® Instructor through the HypnoBirthing® Institute. And finally, I am also certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and I have been formally trained in Yoga Nidra Meditation.
As you browse through my site, you will see that I am highly dedicated to my life's work. I currently provide services to individuals, families, and couples and I have 17 years of counseling experience. I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Delaware in 1997 and my Masters Degree in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2002.
I have worked with many populations over the years giving me a diverse range of experience. For many years, my focus and passion was working with lower income families (in a community mental health setting) both in Baltimore City and later in Howard County. In 2007, I decided to branch out on my own, and launch my own practice.
The current population I work with consists mostly of women, who are going to through life changes and transitions and who are working on discovering and/or reconnecting with themselves. Many are parents that have spent years raising children and who put their own dreams on hold. In addition, many of my clients are on a spiritual path and are interested in doing deeper exploration to bring more harmony, joy, and balance into their lives.
Over the years, I have made a committment to both myself and to my clients to provide top quality services where I use evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy to promote change, healing and growth. I have received formal training in Eriksonian Hypnosis through the American Hypnosis Training Academy in Rockville, MD and I received private training in hypnosis through Patti Sapp at Quiet Time Hypnosis in Ellicott City, MD. I am certified through the National Board of Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists and through The American School of Hypnosis.
My counseling approach is strength based so I don't view my clients as being "broken" or in need of being "fixed." I am a solution-focused therapist, so when I work with clients I gather information on how my clients interpret and interact with their environment (how people sense, think, behave, feel, and express themselves in the world) and how these current ways of thinking and behaving are holding them back.
Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and hypnosis, my clients learn how to access their own personal truths and values, which in turn enables them to live more harmonious, creative, and resilient lives. Ultimately, my clients learn how to think in more effective ways. This in turn changes their perception of themselves (and their environment) allowing them to behave differently. Through making these changes, my clients learn how to live their lives with a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment.
For all of my clients I strive to provide a safe, warm, and non-judgemental atmosphere where there is a confidentiality, support, and trust.
On a more personal note, I am a Howard County native and was raised in Columbia, MD. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
